The world’s tallest Marble Run, measuring 72 feet, is the “energy machine”. It’s located inside the Hong Kong Science Museum. Our Ugears Marble Run may not be the tallest, but we think it’s the most fun! As the marbles enter the 3-way switch, each marble closes a “door” behind it, allowing the next marble to pass further along. The third marble, passing through the last hole, opens the gates using a lever.
What is it about Marble Tracks that makes them so fascinating? Children (and adults!) can watch marbles roll down a track, over various obstacles, for hours. They’re fascinating, they draw our attention, and yet they’re also relaxing. Marble runs have become an unexpected YouTube phenomenon, with thousands of videos accumulating millions of views.
We’ve designed the Ugears Marble Run range to be modular, meaning that each model operates independently, or it can be connected frontally or laterally to other Ugears Marble Runs of the same or different design (2 or 4 models can be connected, in pairs, using the special connectors included in the kit). The toggle mechanism at the end of the stroke can send balls in either or both directions (depending on the weight attached), returning the balls to the original hoist or sending them to another ball track. With adjacent log tracks, you now have an amazingly complex system of interconnected elements, all powered by a single crank. It’s like a miniature amusement park! Keep an eye on your favorite marble – who knows where it’ll end up, when it’ll return to its starting point, or what routes it’ll take along the way!
How the Ugears Graded Marble Runner works.
The Ugears Graded Marble Run features a 3-ball accumulator in which the third ball opens the doors for the first and second trapped balls, sending all three into diverging paths. There are three tracks: the first consists of a 2-ball accumulator and a serpentine track, the second inside a C-shaped cradle, and the third has a funnel. All the balls finally pass through the collection tray and into the rocker. A toggle switch mechanism returns the marbles along the track back to the elevator in 3 steps, or (and this is where it gets really exciting!) into another track of attached Ugears marbles.
Turn the crank clockwise to set the machine in motion and prepare to be mesmerized as the alternating stepped ladder collects, lifts and passes the marbles back and forth until they reach the top of the machine to begin their runs. High-quality wood from sustainable sources makes up the Ball Park with Steps kit. Everything you need for assembly is included. The kit also includes 10 marbles. What’s more, we use a laser method to cut the parts from a plywood board, providing precise cuts. Then remove the parts from the boards and assemble them to create the complete model.
