VoirThe Knight BusTM from the Harry Potter series is here to save young wizards and delight all Potter and Ugears fans around the world. This DIY wooden bus mechanical model is an exciting addition to Ugears‘ Harry Potter collection, and a very clever piece of engineering. To create this three–decker bus, with its unique features from the wizarding world, our Ugears designers and engineers set themselves an ambitious goal: to create a bus that can contract and extend, and change gears at the same time, just like in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie.
The fast Knight BusTM can speed through the streets of Muggle London (or your living room) thanks to its powerful spring motor, which winds up with a secret key stored on the roof of the bus. Lift the magic manipulator button, also located on the roof of the bus, to lock the gears and prevent the bus from running away before all the wizards and witches have boarded. Once the bus has stopped, you can now remove the secret winding key, insert it into the ratchet mechanism on the side of the bus, and give it a few turns. To set the bus in motion, press the magic manipulator button while holding the bus, then let it go! The Knight BusTM starts with a bang thanks to a gear system that transfers energy from the spring to the wheels, including a “flip“ gear that allows the bus to continue coasting.
The most striking feature of the Knight BusTM wooden model is its ability to transform by shrinking or expanding with a simple twist of the magic manipulator. Turn the knob on the top of the bus counterclockwise and the bus tightens, weaving between the cars. Turn the knob clockwise to expand the bus (and its passengers) to their actual size. But here‘s the most amazing thing: the speed of the bus varies as its width does! In its normal (uncompressed) state, the bus moves surprisingly fast. Compress the bus and an internal mechanism makes it move forward at idle.
You can leave the Knight BusTM in its beautiful natural wood condition, paint it purple (as seen in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), or give it any color you want with your own wood paints or stains. The model of the bus, inspired by J. K. Rowling‘s famous books, is classified in the “medium“ difficulty category, has 268 parts and its assembly time is estimated at 6 hours. To assemble it, simply detach the pieces from the laser–cut pre-cut boards and snap them together. No glue or special tools required. Don‘t forget to sand and wax the moving parts to keep your Knight BusTM running smoothly (sandpaper and wax included in the kit). Detailed, illustrated instructions are available in 11 languages.
